The Burbank YMCA Bluefins is a professionally coached, competitive swim team for swimmers 5 years old through high school. BYB competes in Division I of the Eastern Massachusetts YMCA Swim League. BYB is also a USA Swimming Club and a member of the New England LSC.
The Burbank YMCA is a modern facility with a new, fully equipped fitness center. The competition pool has 8 lanes with an electronic timing system, scoreboard, and touch pads. A separate warm-up pool is also available.
There are two seasons. The winter season is also called short course (i.e., 25 yards) and begins in September and runs through February with championships held in March. The summer season is also called long course (i.e. 50m) begins in March and ends in July.
BYB is run by a professional coaching staff supported by a volunteer Parent Advisory Committee (PAC). The team depends on the active support of all families in a wide variety of roles.

Practices are offered 6 days a week and include dry land and water practices for all ages. Swimmers will try-out and then be assigned to a practice schedule based on their age and ability. Swimmers 13 & older are encouraged to work with the Fitness Staff to develop a fitness program specifically designed for swimmers. Recognizing that families need flexibility in their schedules, more practices are offered at each age level than the swimmer is required to attend. High school swimmers are welcome to join the team and their practice schedule will be reduced during their school season.
